Scientific Name: Solidago canadensis L.
Family Name: Asteraceae (Compositae) - Aster or Sunflower Family

Identification Notes:

life cycle - perennial, reproducing by seed and rhizomes

stems - upright, tall, hairless below, pubescent above, branched above growth habit

leaves - alternate, linear to lanceolate, sessile tapered base, variable margins - serrated to almost entire, prominent mid-vein underneath paralleled by two lateral veins, lower leaves deciduous by flowering

flowers - heads of golden yellow disk (tubulate) and ray (ligulate) florets; terminal panicles, densely clustered, numerously branched, appear plume-like
