Identification Notes:

life cycle - winter annual, reproducing by seed

stems - upright, hairless, usually branched growth habit

leaves - alternate, deeply and irregularly lobed, lower leaves short petiole, upper sessile leaves 1, leaves 2

flowers - heads of yellow disk (tubulate) florets, ray (ligulate) florets absent; terminal clusters, seed pappus forms white "puff ball" flower heads
