Identification Notes:

life cycle - perennial, reproducing by seed and short rhizomes

culms - upright or reclining, slender, somewhat flattened, smooth nodes growth habit 1, growth habit 2, growth habit 3

leaves - blades densely hairy above and below, margins wavy and hairy, rolled in bud; ligule short membrane, white hairs behind; sheaths densely haired

seedheads - terminal racemes, usually 1 or 2 sometimes 3, axillary racemes usually solitary, straight or slightly curved, sometimes sheath enclosed seedheads 1, seedheads 2, seedheads 3
