Identification Notes:

life cycle - winter annual, reproducing by seed

stems - low growing, upright during flowering, branched, square growth habit 1, growth habit 2

leaves - opposite, hairy, lower ovate to heart-shaped; upper more triangular, often purplish-red, downward drooping; all leaves rounded or pointed toothed, short petioles leaves

flowers - reddish pink to purple, two-lipped tubular, whorled 3 to 6; axillary above flowers
