Identification Notes:

life cycle - perennial, reproducing by seed and slender rhizomes

stems - upright, slender stems, smooth, numerous, usually from a single base, sparsely branched growth habit 1, growth habit 2, growth habit 3

leaves - ovate to oblanceolate, entire, rosette basal; stems leaves small, opposite, linear, sessile

flowers - 4-petaled, light blue to light violet or white with yellow centers, base of petals form long tube; solitary, terminal flowers 1, flowers 2

other - appears in spring only
