Family Name: Lamiaceae (Labiatae) - Mint Family

Identification Notes:

life cycle - perennial, reproducing by seed and creeping stems

stems - prostate and creeping, square, rooting at nodes growth habit 1, growth habit 2, growth habit 3

leaves - opposite, round to kidney-shaped, round-toothed margins, long petioles; purplish in spring during flowering leaves

flowers - bluish-purple, white throat with dark violet spots, 2-lipped, funnel-shaped; axillary clusters flowers

other - pungent mint-like scent when bruised or crushed
