Identification Notes:

life cycle - annual, reproducing by seed

stems - prostrate, branching, hairy, often pink to red in color, form mat, not rooting at nodes growth habit 1, growth habit 2, growth habit 3, growth habit 4, growth habit 5, seedling

leaves - opposite, ovate, slightly toothed margins, sometimes hairy, short petioles, usually a noticeable reddish blotch on upper surface leaves

flowers - small, inconspicuous, sexual parts subtended by cup-formed bracts, petals and sepals absent, axillary flowers

other - contains milky sap
