Family Name: Poaceae (Graminae) - Grass Family

Identification Notes:

life cycle - annual, reproducing by seed

culms - prostrate to sometimes ascending, white center point growth habit 1, growth habit 2

leaves - blades smooth, hairy margins, folded in bud; auricles absent; ligule membranous, minutely toothed; sheaths open, flattened, usually hair margins, usually white based leaves

seedheads - spike few to several, usually whorled on stem top, spikelets tightly clustered, thick, two-rowed, flattened
