Scientific Name: Echium vulgare L.
Family Name: Boraginaceae - Borage Family

Identification Notes:

life cycle - biennial, reproducing by seed

stems - upright, branched, hairy with spiny bristles, red spotted growth habit 1, growth habit 2, growth habit 3, stems

leaves - alternate, narrow oblong to oblanceolate, hairy, margins entire, rosette and along stem rosette leaves

flowers - 5-petaled, blue, petals fused below forming funnel, upper petal larger and hood-like, stamens conspicuously project, red filaments; axillary flowers 1, flowers 2
