Scientific Name: Datura stramonium L.
Family Name: Solanaceae - Nightshade Family

Identification Notes:

life cycle - annual, reproducing by seed

stems - smooth, hollow, tall, branched growth habit, seedling 1, seedling 2, seedling 3

leaves - alternate, smooth, large, ovate, long petioles, irregularly toothed margins leaves leaves

flowers - 5-petaled, white to light purple, large, petal fuse to form funnel or trumpet, fused sepals cover lower flower; solitary in branch axils seedpods 1, seedpods 2, mature seedpods

seedpods - egg-shaped, sharp spines

other - rank scent when bruised or crushed
