Identification Notes:

life cycle - annual, reproducing by seed

stems - reproductive scapes only, branched entire length growth habit 1, growth habit 2, growth habit 3, growth habit 4, seedling

leaves - basal leaves lanceolate to oblanceolate, slightly toothed to deeply lobed, often pointed toward base; stem leaves almost linear, sessile to clasping-like auricles, margins rolled downward leaf undersides, leaf rosette 1, leaf rosette 2

flowers - heads of yellow ray (ligulate) florets, ray flower toothed tips; solitary on branched scapes, form "puffball" when mature flower head
