Identification Notes:

life cycle - annual, reproducing by seed

stems - smooth, horizontal with upright tips, swollen nodes, nodes rooting growth habit

leaves - lanceolate to oblong, clasping, veins parallel (grass-like)

flowers - 3-petaled, 2 larger deep blue petals above, 1 smaller white petal below, leaf-like bract; open for one day flowers
