Identification Notes:

life cycle - perennial, reproducing by seed and short rhizomes

stems - upright, tall, smooth or mostly so, five angled growth habit 1, growth habit 2

leaves - alternate, pinnately compound, leaflets deeply toothed, appear almost fern-like, leaf stem winged leaves

flowers - heads of golden yellow disk (tubulate) florets, ray (ligulate) usually absent, form button-like disk; flat-topped clusters, terminal flower heads 1, flower heads 2
