Scientific Name: Arctium minus (Hill) Bernh.
Family Name: Asteraceae (Compositae) - Aster or Sunflower Family

Identification Notes:

life cycle - biennial, reproducing by seed

stems - second year, reproductive, upright, course, branched, red striations growth habit, stem striations

leaves - first year narrowly to broadly ovate, heart-shaped base, large, hairy, form rosette; second year alternate on reproductive stems, small leaves 1, leaves 2

flower - heads of red-purple disk (tubulate) florets; receptacle hooked bracts flower heads

seedpods - burs round, hooked bracts sticks to fabric and fur burs
