Common Name: scarlet pimpernel, poor man’s weatherglass, red chickweed
Scientific Name: Anagallis arvensis L.
Family Name: Primulaceae - Primrose Family

Identification Notes:

life cycle - annual, reproducing by seed

stems - square, smooth, low and sprawling growth habit

leaves - opposite, ovate, sessile leaves

flowers - 5-petaled, mostly orange to red (sometimes white or blue), petals fringed with very small teeth; axillary on nodding stalks; closed on overcast days flowers

other - confused with common chickweed
