Scientific Name: Elytrigia repens (L.) Nevski, syn. Agropyron repens, Elymus repens
Family Name: Poaceae (Graminae) - Grass Family

Identification Notes:

life cycle - native perennial, reproducing by seed and rhizomes

culms - upright, smooth, conspicuously jointed, clump forming growth habit 1, growth habit 2

leaves - blades flat, rough, usually hairy above, smooth below, blueish green, sharp-pointed, constriction near tip, rolled in bud; auricles present; ligule membranous, short, toothed; sheaths open, hairy, round auricles, leafblade constriction

seedheads - spike, narrow, flat seedheads

other - rhizomes yellowish-white, ring of roots at nodes; wheat-like scent when crushed or bruised rhizomes
