Scientific Name: Aegopodium podagraria L.
Family Name: Apiaceae (Umbelliferae) - Carrot Family

Identification Notes:

life cycle – perennial, reproducing by seed and long, white, branching rhizomes

stems – reproductive, upright, smooth, sometimes branched, fennel-like scent, leafy growth habit

leaves – most basal arising from rhizome, long petioled, divided into 3 main parts, each part divided up to 5 times, upper leaves usually 3-parted and short petioled, leaflets round-oval to heart-shaped, sometime mitten-shaped, irregularly coarsely to finely toothed, smooth with stiff hairs on underside veins, “wild type medium green with white variegated horticulture variety leaves 1, leaves 2

flowers - five-petaled, small, white; terminal umbel, sometimes axillary flowers 1, flowers 2
