Scientific Name: Aegopodium podagraria L.
Family Name: Apiaceae (Umbelliferae) - Carrot Family

Identification Notes:

life cycle – introduced perennial, reproducing by seed and long, white, branching rhizomes

stems – reproductive, upright, smooth, sometimes branched, fennel-like scent, leafy growth habit 1, growth habit 2

leaves – most basal arising from rhizome, long petioled, divided into 3 main parts, each part divided up to 5 times, upper leaves usually 3-parted and short petioled, leaflets round-oval to heart-shaped, sometime mitten-shaped, irregularly coarsely to finely toothed, smooth with stiff hairs on underside veins, “wild type medium green with white variegated horticulture variety leaves 1, leaves 2, leaves 3, leaves 4, leaves 5, leaves 6

flowers - five-petaled, small, white; terminal umbel, sometimes axillary flowers 1, flowers 2
