Nuisance Pests

The vast majority of insects are not considered to be threats to health and survival of trees and shrubs. Most are considered beneficial, serving as pollinators, scavengers, or predators of harmful pests. On the other hand, some insects, though not considered as plant pests, are regarded as pests simply because they appear in large numbers and tend to share space with humans. Insects that seek refuge indoors prior to the onset of winter or those that occupy convenient hiding places between walls of a house are regarded as nuisance pests.
